To find the root cause of this issue and to resolve it, please follow the steps given below:
Method 1: Disconnect any external pointing device from the computer and then check the issue.
If you have any external pointing device connected with the computer, then I would suggest you to disconnect it and then try installing the latest Synaptic Drivers.
Method 2: Make sure that the correct version of the Synaptics Touchpad Driver is installed on your Laptop.
